Afridi Refuses Federal Meeting, Demands Access to Imran Khan
Peshawar: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sohail Afridi, has refused to attend a Federal Government meeting regarding agriculture and Afghan refugees, stating that participation without consulting party leader Imran Khan would be an insult to the people’s mandate in the province.
Afridi announced his decision via a tweet on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The CM KP explained his refusal, tweeting that because the people of KP had given the mandate to Imran Khan, attending such a meeting without first obtaining “policy guidelines” from him would constitute a “contempt of the mandate of the people of the province”.
In the same tweet, Afridi pressed the Federal Government to facilitate regular meetings with his leader. He wrote: “I hope the Federal Government will resolve this issue as soon as possible and issue directions to the relevant authorities so that a regular meeting can be arranged with my leader and the custodian and representative of the mandate of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan“.
Afridi also confirmed that his legal team is actively pursuing the matter on various fronts. He concluded by stating that their legal team “is also going to all legal forums including the Islamabad High Court” in this regard.
