Ali Amin Gandapur Steps Down as KP Chief Minister on Imran Khan’s Directive

PESHAWAR – In a significant political development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has tendered his resignation, formally submitting a letter to the Governor of KP.

Gandapur stated that his decision was made “in deference to the order of my leader and founding Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan,” adding that he was stepping down under Article 130, Clause 8 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Reflecting on his tenure, Gandapur recalled that when he assumed office, the province was grappling with two major challenges: a financial crisis and terrorism. Over the past year and a half, he claimed his administration worked to restore economic stability and combat militancy, guided by his cabinet, party colleagues, and Imran Khan’s leadership.

He further noted that his government initiated development projects in areas once considered war-torn, aiming to rebuild infrastructure and restore public confidence.

In his farewell message, Gandapur expressed gratitude to his cabinet, assembly members, opposition benches, and the provincial bureaucracy, acknowledging their support during difficult times. While admitting that not every challenge was fully overcome, he emphasized that he had served the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with “honesty and sincerity.”

Earlier, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed Gandapur’s removal, announcing that the party leadership had decided to bring in new provincial leadership to carry forward its agenda.
