Ashok Swain: Media “Killed Dharmendra” Like It Claimed Islamabad Takeover

Indian media recently circulated false reports suggesting that veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra had passed away, sparking confusion and widespread tributes online. The actor’s family, including his daughter Esha Deol, strongly denied the rumors and criticized the media for irresponsible reporting.

Reacting to the incident, Indian analyst Ashok Swain posted a satirical comment, saying the media “killed Dharmendra the same way it claimed to have captured Islamabad in May.” His remark referenced earlier propaganda during heightened Pakistan–India tensions, when sections of Indian media broadcasted exaggerated or fabricated claims of military success, including reports of Indian forces taking control of Pakistani territory.

Swain’s comparison highlights a broader critique of sensationalism and misinformation in Indian media, pointing out how unverified claims can mislead audiences both in entertainment and political contexts.
