PTI Chief Criticizes Attempts to Pit Institutions Against Politicians
Police Stop Attempted Jail Visit
Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that “some people want a major institution and certain political leaders to clash.” He made the statement after police stopped him on the way to Adiala Jail, where he had planned to meet former prime minister Imran Khan.
Court‑Approved Meetings Blocked
Speaking to media in the presence of PTI workers, Gohar stressed that visits to Imran Khan are permitted under court orders for family members and lawyers. He criticized authorities for preventing such meetings, saying that dialogue and access could help ease tensions.
Call for Calm and Dialogue
Without naming any institution or individual, Gohar urged that meetings with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi should be allowed, as they could improve the situation. He warned that the country cannot afford further confrontation, adding: “Politics is not about enmity, nor should leaders use abusive language against one another.”
Warning Against Polarization
The PTI chairman cautioned that certain elements are trying to pit institutions against political forces, which he said would be dangerous for democracy. He emphasized that such conflict must be avoided to protect national stability.
