Khalid Ranjha: Military Officers May Respond Like Supreme Court Judges

Islamabad: Senior lawyer Dr. Khalid Ranjha has cautioned that Pakistan’s armed forces may also witness reactions to the recent constitutional amendment, similar to those seen in the judiciary.

Speaking to BBC, Ranjha noted that the military comprises many capable officers who have been decorated with honors such as Sitara-e-Jurat and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. He suggested that the issue of service tenure could potentially trigger responses within the institution.

Ranjha emphasized that the army is a vital pillar of the state, particularly given the current regional environment and ongoing tensions with India. He warned that Pakistan cannot afford any form of unrest within its armed forces at such a critical time.

His comments add to the growing debate over the implications of constitutional changes, with both judicial and military institutions seen as central to national stability.
