Deadly Blast at Police Station in Indian Occupied Kashmir Kills Nine
Srinagar, Indian Occupied Kashmir: A tragic explosion at Nowgam police station on the outskirts of Srinagar has left nine people dead and more than 30 injured. The blast occurred while a forensic team was inspecting a cache of seized explosives stored at the facility.
According to NDTV, the incident took place at 11:20 am and resulted in the deaths of three forensic experts, two revenue officers, and several police personnel. Srinagar Police Chief Nalin Prabhat confirmed that 32 people were injured, including 27 policemen, two revenue officials, and three civilians.
The explosion triggered a fire within the police compound, prompting emergency response teams to rush to the scene. A local police official told Reuters that the blast shook the entire station and raised fears of further casualties.
This incident comes just four days after a deadly car bomb blast in New Delhi that killed at least eight people. Indian authorities have labeled that attack as terrorism, raising concerns about escalating violence.
The Nowgam blast has intensified scrutiny over safety protocols and the handling of explosive materials in sensitive zones like Indian Occupied Kashmir. Investigations are underway to determine the cause and assess accountability.
