Starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, the movie is now officially streaming on Netflix, providing a second chance for viewers who missed its theatrical run. Although the film, directed by Suparn Verma, was met with generally positive critical reception following its November 7, 2025 release, box office numbers were reportedly modest. Haq delves into the intricate legal and familial challenges faced by Muslim households regarding marital rights and divorce.
The narrative is heavily inspired by the historic 1985 Supreme Court ruling in the Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum case, a landmark decision concerning maintenance rights for divorced Muslim women.
