Headworks Gate on Ravi River Collapses in Pathankot
Lahore (Repubicpk.com) A gate at the Madhopur Headworks in Pathankot, which diverts water to the Ravi River, broke while undergoing repair work. The strong water flow reportedly caused the gate to collapse, leaving nearly 50 irrigation department officials and staff stranded.
Local journalist Akashdeep Thind shared a video of the broken headworks and the ongoing rescue operation on the social media platform X. He stated that all officials had been “evacuated safely” with the help of helicopters.

However, a conflicting report from “Punjab Spectrum” indicates that while 50 officials were rescued by helicopters, one official unfortunately drowned.
