Pakistan to Host Indonesian President for Two‑Day Official Visit

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive in Islamabad on December 8 for a twoday official visit. The invitation was extended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the trip marks Subianto’s maiden visit to Pakistan. According to state media APP, he will be accompanied by senior ministers and officials as part of a highlevel delegation.

Significance of the Visit

This visit holds particular importance as Pakistan and Indonesia are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. The last Indonesian presidential visit took place in 2018, when thenPresident Joko Widodo visited Islamabad. Subianto’s arrival is seen as an opportunity to reaffirm ties and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

Scheduled Meetings

During his stay, President Subianto will hold delegationlevel talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. These meetings are expected to cover both bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

Areas of Cooperation

Discussions will focus on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate change, education, and culture. Both sides are expected to strengthen regional and global partnerships through comprehensive dialogue. The signing of multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) is also anticipated during the visit.
