Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto Arrives in Pakistan
Red‑Carpet Welcome
President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two‑day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He was received at Nur Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz, cabinet members, and senior officials.
A ceremonial guard of honour was presented by the Presidential Bodyguard, while children dressed in traditional attire offered bouquets after a 21‑gun salute. The capital’s main avenues were decorated with flags and portraits of the visiting dignitary, symbolizing the close ties between the two nations.
First Visit Since Taking Office
This marks President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan since assuming office, and the first Indonesian presidential visit since 2018, when Joko Widodo toured Islamabad.
Agenda and Meetings
During his stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation‑level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz, meet President Zardari, and also call on Chief of Army Staff and Defence Forces Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, covering cooperation in trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education, and culture.
Significance
The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia, adding symbolic weight to discussions aimed at expanding collaboration at both regional and global levels.
