Iran Slams US Interference, Cites Historical Record to Reject Trump’s Sympathy Claims

  • US claims of sympathy are unfounded.
  • Tehran cites 1953 coup, 1988 plane shootdown.
  • Interference threatens regional chaos.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has vehemently rejected the latest statements made by US President Donald Trump regarding support for Iranian protesters, terming the American posture as ‘direct interference’ and historically inconsistent.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghai, Washington’s claims of sympathy for the Iranian people do not align with the United States’ historical record of actions against Tehran. Baghai detailed several historical grievances, suggesting the US has consistently acted against the interests of the Iranian nation.

The Spokesman specifically referenced the attempt to overthrow the democratically elected government of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh on August 19, 1953. He also brought up the tragic incident of 1988, when an Iranian passenger aircraft was reportedly shot down, leading to the deaths of innocent women and children. Furthermore, Baghai pointed to America’s full support for Saddam Hussein during the devastating eight-year war between Iran and Iraq. He asserted that the US is now using ‘sympathy for the Iranian people’ as a pretext to threaten attacks.

Baghai, communicating via the social media platform X, emphasized that the Iranian population is fully capable of resolving its internal issues through dialogue and will not tolerate any external interference in this process.

The strong reaction from Tehran came after US President Donald Trump warned that the US would reportedly step forward to assist the ‘peaceful protesters’ if Iran chose to kill them. This statement was met with equally forceful language from Iran’s security apparatus.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also strongly responded to President Trump. Larijani categorized the US President’s statement as a ‘direct interference’ in Iran’s sovereign internal affairs.

Larijani suggested that the immediate reaction from both Israeli officials and the American administration clarifies the true background of the recent incidents. He was keen to distinguish between the legitimate concerns of protesting merchants and those he labeled as ‘subversive elements.’

The Secretary issued a clear warning to the US, stating that President Trump must understand that American intervention in this internal matter would be equivalent to sparking regional instability and leading to the complete destruction of US interests across the entire Middle East region. This dual rejection from both the diplomatic and security wings of the Iranian government signals Tehran’s zero-tolerance policy toward any perceived foreign meddling in its domestic affairs.
