The city of Karachi has been rocked by the tragic death of six-year-old Hassan, who succumbed to injuries allegedly sustained during corporal punishment inflicted by his madrassa teacher. The incident, as reported by journalist Adnan Aadil, involved the teacher (Muallim) beating the young student with a stick.

Following the grievous injuries, Hassan was initially admitted to Jinnah Hospital. However, according to the victim’s father, the child was subsequently discharged from the hospital just a few days later. Despite the release, Hassan’s condition appears to have deteriorated rapidly, leading to his untimely death. The exact medical cause of death and the correlation with the previous injuries are currently under investigation.

In response to the tragedy, the local police took immediate action. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the teacher implicated in the assault. Reports confirm that law enforcement officials successfully arrested the accused soon after the incident came to light, detaining the individual responsible for the fatal beating.

This incident has spotlighted the critical need for vigilance regarding corporal punishment in educational institutions across Pakistan, particularly in religious seminaries. Sources indicate that the police investigation is ongoing, aiming to establish the full timeline of events, including the severity of the initial injuries and the circumstances surrounding the child’s hospital discharge. The focus now remains on securing justice for young Hassan and ensuring strict accountability for the accused teacher.
