COAS Asim Munir Awarded Kingdom’s Highest National Honour

King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class

Saudi Arabia has conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the Kingdom’s highest national honour, upon Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The award recognizes his pivotal role in advancing defence cooperation, strategic coordination, and institutional linkages between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Symbol of Deep Bilateral Ties

The conferment underscores the depth of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations and reflects the shared determination of both nations to strengthen strategic cooperation in pursuit of regional and global peace. It also acknowledges Field Marshal Munir’s contributions to regional stability, including sustained collaboration in counter‑terrorism and security.

High‑Level Meetings in Riyadh

During his official visit to the Kingdom, Field Marshal Asim Munir called on Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics, defence and military cooperation, strategic collaboration, and evolving geopolitical challenges.

Recognition of Leadership

The Saudi leadership conveyed appreciation for Field Marshal Munir’s professionalism and strategic outlook, noting his commitment to strengthening the longstanding, brotherly ties between the two countries. The honour was conferred under a Royal Decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership, describing the award as a reflection of the enduring bonds between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
