Article 6 Strengthened in Latest Amendment, Says Senior Analyst

Speaking on Public News, senior journalist and analyst Nusrat Javed discussed the government’s newly introduced constitutional amendment. He explained that the amendment incorporates Article 6 and its clause 2, which explicitly states that not only the High Courts and Supreme Court, but also the Federal Constitutional Court, will be barred from declaring any military takeover lawful.

Javed emphasized that this provision is designed to close all possible legal avenues for legitimizing martial law in Pakistan. He further remarked that considering the type of members currently present in both houses of parliament, the possibility of martial law is virtually nonexistent.

He reiterated that the amendment reflects the government’s intent to strengthen democratic institutions and prevent any unconstitutional intervention in the future. According to Javed, this legal safeguard is a significant step toward ensuring political stability and reinforcing civilian supremacy.
