Pakistan Army Hits Back After Afghan Firing, 5 Tank Positions Destroyed
KURRAM: Tension flared along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border late Tuesday night when Afghan Taliban fighters and elements of Fitna al-Khawarij opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani positions in Kurram district. According to security officials, the Pakistan Army responded with precision and force, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers.
In the retaliatory action, five tank positions were destroyed within an hour, while a key Taliban commander was confirmed killed. Witnesses reported that militants abandoned their posts in panic, leaving behind damaged equipment and casualties.
Security sources revealed that a Taliban tank stationed at Nargsar Post in Khost was also destroyed along with its crew. Flames and smoke were seen rising from the wreckage as the militants retreated.
Later, the Pakistan Army carried out another targeted strike at Turkmanzai Top, successfully eliminating a moving tank in what officials described as a “highly professional operation.” Reports also indicate that a training camp linked to foreign militant Malik Naeem was completely destroyed opposite a local police post.
Military officials emphasized that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to secure Pakistan’s borders and prevent cross‑border aggression. They added that the attackers suffered significant losses, while Pakistani positions remained firmly intact.
Express News reported that the situation in Kurram is now under control, with the Pakistan Army maintaining a strong defensive posture to deter any further hostilities.
