Citizens expressed immense joy as the news broke, preparing for the spiritual journey ahead following the formal sighting.

Official Announcement Made

The announcement was made during a formal press conference in Peshawar by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, who led the meeting, confirmed that over 40 credible testimonies were received from various parts of the country. As per reports from the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, these testimonies were verified in accordance with Sharia principles before the final declaration was issued to the public.

In addition to Pakistan, the Ramadan crescent was also sighted in neighboring countries, including India and Bangladesh. The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) had earlier predicted that the moon would be visible on February 18, aligning with the actual sighting. This consensus between religious bodies and scientific data has provided a unified start to the holy month in the region.
