Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Boost Trade Talks in Riyadh
RIYADH/ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high‑level meeting with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, underscoring the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks were conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing readiness to expand collaboration in multiple sectors.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and senior cabinet members from both countries, reflecting the significance of the engagement.
Discussions focused on trade, investment, energy, and broader economic cooperation, with both leaders emphasizing the need to accelerate joint projects and explore new opportunities for partnership.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted on his official X account, describing it as a “great pleasure and honor to meet my brother Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh.” He added that the dialogue centered on expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation to strengthen ties between the two nations.
The visit coincided with the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference, a global forum hosted in Riyadh that brings together world leaders, investors, and policymakers. Pakistan’s participation, led by the Prime Minister, highlights Islamabad’s interest in attracting investment and showcasing its economic potential on the international stage.
The FII conference, often referred to as “Davos in the Desert,” is expected to feature discussions on innovation, sustainability, and global economic growth, with Pakistan seeking to position itself as a partner in regional and international development initiatives.
Officials noted that the meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Mohammed bin Salman reflects the long‑standing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to maintain close coordination on political, economic, and security matters.
