Pakistan U19 Squad Announced for Tri‑Series, ICC U19 World Cup

Rising Stars Ready for Global Stage

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled its 15‑member squad for the upcoming U19 tri‑series in Zimbabwe and the ICC U19 World Cup, setting the stage for a thrilling journey of young talent. With Farhan Yousaf continuing as captain and Usman Khan as vice‑captain, the Green Shirts are gearing up to prove their mettle against the world’s best.

From Asia Cup to World Cup Dreams

Currently battling in the ACC U19 Asia Cup in Dubai, Pakistan’s youngsters have already shown grit, reaching the semi‑final against Bangladesh. The tri‑series in Zimbabwe, running from 25 December to 6 January, will serve as a crucial rehearsal before the World Cup kicks off on 15 January in Namibia and Zimbabwe.

A Fresh Face in the Line‑Up

The only change in the squad adds a spark of pace: right‑arm fast bowler Umar Zaib joins the team, replacing left‑arm spinner Mohammad Huzaifa. His inclusion signals Pakistan’s intent to strengthen their bowling attack for the high‑pressure matches ahead.

Mentors Behind the Mission

Guiding the squad is a seasoned support staff, including former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as manager and mentor. With Shahid Anwar as head coach, Rao Iftikhar handling the bowling unit, and Mansoor Amjad sharpening fielding skills, the young cricketers will benefit from experience and strategy at every step.

Fixtures That Will Test Nerves

The tri‑series promises intense battles, with Pakistan facing Afghanistan and hosts Zimbabwe in Harare, Prince Edward, Sunrise Sports Club, and Old Hararians. The top two teams will clash in the final on 6 January.

The World Cup journey begins with a high‑voltage opener against England on 16 January, followed by matches against Scotland and Zimbabwe. From there, the Super Six stage will decide who marches into the semi‑finals and ultimately the grand finale on 6 February in Harare.
