PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Questions Election Commission Ban

Statement Outside Parliament

Pakistan TehreekeInsaf Chairman Barrister Gohar has questioned how the Election Commission imposed a ban on PTI without issuing any certificate. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, he said the party has not received any official document confirming the restriction.

Election Participation

Gohar explained that PTI Balochistan did not field candidates in local government elections, while the party contested polls under the platform of Sunni Ittehad Council. He stressed that banning political parties is not a solution, adding that even two years after May 9, the nation remains stuck in the same debate.

Call for Dialogue

He urged that institutions and political parties should work to reduce tensions, noting that democratic forces improve conditions through dialogue. Referring to Europe’s history, he said despite fighting world wars, the continent today shares a single currency and passport, while some elements in Pakistan resist progress.

Criticism of Political Climate

Barrister Gohar said politics should not be made over family meetings with PTI’s founder, and emphasized that constant blame games must end. “In politics, doors should always remain open,” he remarked, calling for constructive engagement instead of confrontation.
