Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has formally dismissed reports circulating about the health and eye examination of Imran Khan. The party clarified that information attributed to his sister, Noreen Khanum, originated from a fraudulent social media handle. PTI stated:“PTI strictly rejects all reports issued from the fake account of Noreen Khanum.”This clarification follows a wave of concern among supporters regarding the former premier’s medical condition.

Fabricated Social Media Account

The controversy began when a verified X account claiming to be Noreen Khanum posted updates regarding Imran Khan’s medical status. PTI emphasized that these claims were entirely manufactured and lacked any official basis or family involvement. According to the party’s statement on X:“The account and its claims are completely fabricated and have no connection with Imran Khan’s family.”The party warned against trusting unverified digital platforms for sensitive personal news.

Media Outlets Retract News

Several media platforms initially shared the health update before the official denial by the party leadership. BBC Urdu also acknowledged they had published a brief report based on the now-discredited account on their live page. Following PTI’s clarification, the outlet removed the content and issued a correction. They noted that the sensitive news was published without proper verification from the family or the PTI central information secretary, leading to the eventual retraction.

Concerns Over Misinformation

The political party expressed deep concern over the spread of misleading information regarding the former Prime Minister. They highlighted the importance of verifying sensitive health details with official party representatives or immediate family members only. PTI maintained that such reports are misleading to the public and cause unnecessary alarm regarding the PTI founder’s well-being. The party reiterated its commitment to providing accurate updates through official channels to ensure transparency.
