Bollywood Star Rajpal Yadav Released From Jail For Family Event

  • Rajpal Yadav granted interim bail in nine crore fraud case.
  • Comedian released from Tihar Jail to attend niece’s wedding.
  • Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn offer financial help to actor.
Famous Indian comedian Rajpal Yadav has secured interim bail from the Delhi High Court. This comes after his incarceration in a nine crore Indian Rupees cheque bounce case. The actor had surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 to serve a six-month sentence, but this temporary release will allow him to participate in a vital family event. The court suspended his sentence after a deposit of 1.5 crore rupees into the complainant’s account, offering the actor a breather in his long-standing legal battle.

Family Joy Over Bail

Speaking to NDTV after the bail was granted, Sripal Yadav, the actor’s elder brother, expressed immense relief and happiness for the household. Sripal Yadav said,

The family is overjoyed because Rajpal will be able to attend his niece’s wedding. If he hadn’t come, the celebration would have had no meaning as he is the life of the family.

He further noted that the entire family was grateful to God for this sudden turn of events, as they had previously lost hope of Rajpal’s presence at the ceremony.

Roots Of Debt Crisis

According to reports from NDTV, the case dates back to 2012 when Rajpal Yadav borrowed five crore rupees for his directorial film ‘Atta Pata Laapata’. The film’s failure at the box office led to massive losses, and with interest and penalties, the debt surged to nine crore. Despite paying partial amounts and submitting demand drafts, the court noted repeated breaches of promise and refused further extensions. This led to his surrender in February, highlighting the severe financial risks faced by individuals in the Indian film industry.

Bollywood Friends Step Up

While in Tihar Jail, several Bollywood giants reportedly offered financial support to the struggling comedian. Rajpal’s manager, Goldy, revealed that stars like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, and Sonu Sood, along with director David Dhawan, came forward to help resolve the massive debt. The actor expressed deep gratitude for this solidarity from the fraternity. Despite the bail, Rajpal Yadav must surrender his passport and attend the next court hearing on March 18 to ensure further compliance with legal mandates.
