- Ruffalo slams Trump at Golden Globes.
- Called President “the worst human being.”
- Cited Venezuela war and moral crisis.
Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo, who was nominated for his performance in the HBO drama ‘Task,’ used the high-profile platform of the Golden Globes red carpet to voice profound distress regarding the current political climate in the United States, targeting President Donald Trump directly.
The actor, known globally for playing the Hulk, expressed his inability to simply celebrate, stating that the ongoing events in the US were no longer normal. “I want to be here to celebrate, and I am here to celebrate, and I’m proud to have a Golden Globe nomination. But also, this is not normal anymore, and so I don’t know how I could be quiet, and I’m feeling a little sick, so it’s hard to BS right now,” Ruffalo remarked, according to reporting by USA Today.
His critique was uncompromisingly directed at the leadership. Ruffalo stated forcefully that President Donald Trump is “the worst human being.” He linked this character assessment to specific policy concerns, including American foreign intervention. He claimed, “We’re in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded,” emphasizing that the President was telling the world that international law held no importance to him, suggesting that the only thing that mattered was Trump’s own morality.
“If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble,” Ruffalo warned, also referencing the President as a “convicted felon,” a point echoed across international media reports.
To visually underscore his protest, Ruffalo wore a ‘Be Good’ pin. Local and international media, including coverage noted by @Variety, confirmed that this pin was worn in memory of Rene Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman who recently died following an encounter with US immigration officials. Ruffalo clarified that the pin was specifically for Rene Good and for all individuals experiencing fear and terror within the US.
Despite his sharp criticism of the government’s direction, the actor maintained his patriotism, stressing, “I love this country, and what I’m seeing here happening is not America.” Ruffalo was not alone in this form of protest, as several other prominent actors at the ceremony also participated by wearing ‘Be Good’ or ‘ICE Out’ pins, joining the collective demonstration against current policies and political rhetoric.
