Sethi Warns of Two-Front War, Rips CM’s Anti-Establishment Stance
Islamabad: Veteran analyst Najam Sethi has issued a stark warning regarding Pakistan’s growing internal and external security threats, suggesting the country faces the potential for a dangerous two-front war. Speaking during a program on Samaa TV, Sethi outlined the precarious security situation, which is compounded by escalating domestic political friction.
Sethi stated that Pakistan is currently grappling with both “internal and external challenges”.
Two-Front Threat and Internal Conflict
The analyst highlighted a critical scenario involving the western and eastern borders: “The problem is that if they (Afghans) attack and India also attacks, then we will face the enemy on two fronts,” he explained.
Compounding this external risk is the internal political situation, which Sethi characterized as severely fractured: “Moreover, internal disputes and conflicts have greatly increased in Pakistan,” he said. He criticized a popular political party for appointing a Chief Minister who “openly says he does not listen to the establishment,” adding to the country’s instability.
Prediction on KP Chief Secretary
In a separate analysis during the same program, Najam Sethi reiterated his earlier prediction regarding the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sohail Afridi.
Sethi asserted, “I stand by my news; he (Sohail Afridi) will not be allowed to continue.” The analyst offered two possible outcomes for the official: “Either he will compromise like Gandapur, or if he doesn’t, he will be relieved of his duties,” he predicted.
Finally, commenting on high-level security meetings, Sethi offered a counter-narrative, claiming that the recent meeting between the President and the Army Chief did not focus on Afghanistan but instead covered “something else”.
