Simi Raheel: No Merit or Justice in Local Award Ceremonies

Karachi: Renowned actress Simi Raheel has strongly criticized Pakistani entertainment award shows, calling them fake and unjust. Speaking as a guest on a private TV program, she questioned the credibility of voting systems used in such events.

Simi remarked that if a country like Pakistan struggles with transparency in its electoral results, then trusting the voting process in award shows becomes even more difficult. She added that even in developed nations like the United States, voting systems have faced challenges, making it hard to consider any such process truly authentic.

She further commented that every channel and organization seems to have built its own isolated system, often rewarding favorites rather than talent. According to her, awards are frequently given to individuals who lack merit, while deserving artists are overlooked.

Simi emphasized that the distribution of awards is often influenced by bias and personal preferences, rather than objective criteria. She concluded that these ceremonies lack both merit and justice, and do not reflect the true spirit of artistic recognition.

Her remarks have sparked conversation across the entertainment industry, with many echoing concerns about transparency and fairness in award culture.
