US Ends Record 43-Day Government Shutdown After Funding Bill Signed

The United States has officially ended its longest-ever government shutdown, lasting 43 days, after President Donald Trump approved a bill to restore federal funding.

The breakthrough came when the House of Representatives passed the measure by a vote of 222 to 209. In a rare show of bipartisanship, six Democratic lawmakers joined Republicans in supporting the legislation.

Speaking before the signing, President Trump declared that the country was in “better shape than ever” and described the day as one of the best during his presidency.

The shutdown had left thousands of government employees struggling without pay. Many were forced into furloughs, while others lost their jobs altogether. The prolonged closure disrupted services across multiple departments and created widespread uncertainty for American families.

With the bill now signed into law, federal offices are expected to resume normal operations, bringing relief to workers and signaling an end to weeks of political deadlock in Washington.
