University of Lahore Student Critically Injured After Alleged Suicide Attempt, Police Say
Lahore(Webs desk) A female student of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Lahore was critically injured after allegedly attempting suicide by jumping from the second floor of a university building. The incident took place at the private university located on Raiwind Road, Lahore.
According to Lahore Police, the student was immediately shifted to the university’s teaching hospital and later moved to Lahore General Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran told BBC that the student has broken both legs, ribs, and her spinal cord, and she is currently unconscious. He said the reason behind the alleged suicide attempt will be known after the student regains consciousness.
Doctors at Lahore General Hospital confirmed that the 20-year-old student has been shifted to the ICU. Medical teams including surgeons, orthopaedic specialists, and neurosurgeons are monitoring her condition. Hospital officials said she has multiple fractures, head injury, and chest trauma.
Students protested after the incident, leading to the suspension of academic activities. This is the second such incident at the university in recent weeks, raising serious concerns among students.
