Hangu Bomb Blast Claims Lives of SP Asad Zubair and Two Policemen

HANGU – A powerful bomb blast in the Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has left three police officials, including SP Operations Asad Zubair, dead.

According to police officials, the incident occurred when miscreants targeted a check post in the Ghalmina area with explosives. Upon receiving the alert, SP Asad Zubair and his team moved towards the site. On the way, their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in the immediate deaths of the SP and two accompanying policemen.

Law enforcement agencies confirmed that security in the area has been tightened following the attack. A large-scale search operation is underway to trace and apprehend those responsible.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the bombing, paying tribute to the fallen officers and vowing that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also denounced the attack, directing the Inspector General of Police to submit an urgent report. He further announced that an Apex Committee meeting would be convened to review the province’s security situation.

President Asif Ali Zardari also issued a strong condemnation of the incident. In his statement from Islamabad, he paid tribute to SP Asad Zubair and the martyred policemen, describing the attack as a cowardly act against the country’s peace and stability. He emphasized that the nation takes pride in the sacrifices of its brave officers and reaffirmed his support for the police in their fight against terrorism. The President prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and patience for their families.

The tragic incident has once again highlighted the challenges faced by security forces in the region, where militants continue to target law enforcement personnel.
