Russia Offers to Mediate Between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Moscow: Russia has announced its willingness to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan in an effort to reduce rising tensions along the border.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters at the Kremlin that ensuring stability in the region is Russia’s top priority. She described both Pakistan and Afghanistan as important partners and warned that continued border clashes could pose a serious threat to regional security.
Zakharova emphasized that reconciliation efforts and dialogue are the only way to achieve lasting peace. She appealed to both countries to exercise restraint, resolve differences through negotiations, and avoid actions that could further escalate the situation.
The spokesperson made it clear that unresolved tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan risk becoming an obstacle to peace and stability in South Asia, underscoring the importance of continuing the dialogue process.
It is worth noting that Iran had earlier also offered to mediate between the two neighbors, highlighting growing international concern over the situation.
