Professor Suspended After Harassment Complaint By A Student

BUREWALA: A harassment incident has been reported at the Faisalabad Agriculture University’s sub‑campus in Burewala, where a professor allegedly harassed a female student. According to sources, a video surfaced online showing the professor purportedly offering the student higher marks in exchange for inappropriate behavior.
Complaint and Initial Action
The student submitted a written complaint against the professor to the university administration on 31 October. Following procedure, the administration forwarded the case to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan Women Harassment Unit for further action.
Updated Situation
University officials confirmed that the HEC Women Harassment Unit reviewed the complaint and referred it to the Vice Chancellor for immediate action. Acting on the directive, the Vice Chancellor suspended the professor and barred him from entering the university premises until the inquiry is completed.
Resignation of Sub‑Campus Principal
In a related development, the principal of the Burewala sub‑campus tendered his resignation. He stated that he would step down until the investigation reaches its final conclusion, underscoring the seriousness of the case and the administration’s commitment to transparency.
