Lahore (Republic PK) At least 14 children have died after the roof of a private tuition center collapsed in Kahna area of Lahore, the deceased have been buried in their native areas. The female teacher herself was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment in the hospital. The provincial government has announced Rs 20 lakh as compensation for the heirs of the deceased children and Rs 5.5 lakh for the families of the injured.
According to the details, 20 children were rescued from the debris. Around 35 children used to come here to study every day. The owner of the house and the labourer were on the roof for repairs when it suddenly fell on the children who were gathered to quench their thirst for knowledge.
According to rescue officials, several children are injured, some of the rescued children did not even have a pulse, the ages of the deceased children were between 5 and 16 years.
The injured female teacher said that she has been teaching children for 2 years, a total of 30 to 35 children come for tuition, the roof was leaking due to rain, due to which repair work was started, my daughter was also injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced assistance for the heirs of the children who died and were injured in the Kahna accident. The advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister said that Rs 2 million will be given to the heirs of the deceased children, while Rs 5.5 million will be given to the families of the injured children.
