Pakistan Reveal Women’s World Cup 2025 Squad with Fresh Faces and New Captain

The Women’s National Selection Committee has confirmed Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, to be held from 30 September to 2 November in India and Sri Lanka. All-rounder Fatima Sana will lead the side for the first time in an ODI World Cup, following her successful stint as captain during the Qualifier earlier this year, where Pakistan maintained a perfect win record. Uncapped batter Eyman Fatima, who made her T20I debut against Ireland, is among six players set for their maiden ODI World Cup appearances.

Pakistan’s group-stage matches will all be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, with fixtures against Bangladesh, India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Should they progress, the semi-final on 29 October and the final on 2 November will also be staged in Colombo. Before the tournament, the squad will face South Africa in a three-match ODI series at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from 16 to 22 September, serving as crucial preparation.

Two changes have been made from the squad that featured in the Qualifier, with Eyman Fatima and Sadaf Shamas replacing Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who join the five-member non-travelling reserves. The team will undergo a 14-day training camp starting 29 August under head coach Muhammad Wasim, featuring practice sessions and 50-over warm-up matches. With a blend of youthful energy and experienced campaigners, Pakistan will aim to make a strong statement on the global stage.
