Washington (Republic PK) The FIFA World Cup 2026 is proving to be the biggest tournament in history, with a significant increase in teams, matches and revenue. Along with this, the prize money has also reached a record level.
The winning team of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be given $50 million, while the runner-up team will be given $33 million as a prize.
The total prize money fund for this mega event, which will be held jointly in the United States, Canada and Mexico, has been set at a record $655 million.
According to media reports, the total prize money fund this year is 50 percent more than the previous World Cup held in 2022.
In the third-place match, England defeated France 6-4 to secure third place, for which they will receive $29 million, while the fourth-place France team will be given $27 million.
According to FIFA, the teams that have reached the quarter-finals, which include Norway, Belgium, Morocco and Switzerland, will be given $19 million each.
The teams ranked ninth to sixteenth will be awarded $15 million, while the teams ranked seventeenth to thirty-two will be awarded $11 million. Similarly, the teams ranked 33rd to 48th will receive $9 million.
FIFA has also announced that each team participating in the tournament has been provided with an additional $1.5 million for preparation costs.
It should be noted that Argentina was given $42 million in prize money in the 2022 World Cup, while France was given $38 million in 2018. The winning team’s prize money of $50 million for 2026 is the largest in World Cup history, reflecting the growing popularity and financial scope of the event.
