ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Hamid Mir has claimed that the actual political target of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, not the coalition partner Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Speaking on the Geo News program “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Ke Saath,” Mir asserted that the friction stems from the Prime Minister’s refusal to accommodate certain requests.
“Shehbaz Sharif did not fulfill many requests,” Mir stated. “A very important position was to be given to a certain individual, but that appointment was not made.”
The journalist suggested that the ongoing public spat with the PPP is a facade for this internal power dynamic. He noted that as a key ally, the PPP is aware of the internal happenings within the PML-N.
Mir pointed to social media activity as evidence for his claim. “On social media, some trolls who are PML-N supporters are attacking Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz is openly supporting them,” he said. “So, this means her real target is the Prime Minister, and the PPP people are also saying this.”
He concluded with a rhetorical question to support his analysis: “Although she will not admit it, if Maryam Nawaz’s favorite people on social media are attacking Shehbaz Sharif, what does that mean?”
