Armed Attack on Police Stations and Bank in Kachhi Leaves SHO Dead
KACHHI (Balochistan) — A wave of violence struck Bhag tehsil on Monday when dozens of armed men launched coordinated attacks on two police stations and a branch of the National Bank, officials confirmed.
According to police sources, the attackers, estimated at 40 to 50 in number, entered the city around midday using cars and motorcycles. They split into groups, targeting separate police stations simultaneously.
During the clashes, SHO Lutf Ali Khosa was killed and another officer sustained injuries. Police retaliated, killing two of the assailants, though their companions managed to carry away one body and an injured fighter.
Authorities reported that the attackers also freed four to five undertrial prisoners from a judicial lockup and seized weapons from one of the stations. Records at the police station and a nearby Patwar Khana (land revenue office) were set ablaze.
The National Bank branch, located opposite one of the police stations, also came under attack. Although the bank’s main door was damaged, security personnel on duty resisted the assault, preventing the attackers from looting cash.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Moazur Rahman stated that the incident reflects a well-coordinated strike, adding that the police fought back despite being outnumbered.
This marks the second major attack in Kachhi district within days. Earlier, unidentified men had targeted a Levies Force station in Haji Shahar, torching the building and seizing weapons.
The district, which includes the historic Bolan Pass, has witnessed repeated unrest in recent years, with militants targeting security forces, government offices, and infrastructure. However, officials noted that such large-scale, simultaneous assaults in Bhag and Haji Shahar are unprecedented.
Security has since been tightened across the region, while investigations are underway to identify the group behind the attacks.
