KP Chief Minister Demands Punjab Ensure Court‑Ordered Meetings With Imran Khan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has formally written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, urging immediate implementation of court orders regarding meetings with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who remains imprisoned in Adiala Jail.

The Letter

The letter, shared publicly by PTI on its social media platforms, expressed serious concern over what Afridi described as the violation of Khan’s rights. He noted that despite clear court permission, Khan’s family members, particularly his sisters, were stopped and mistreated. Elderly women were reportedly forced to sit on the roadside nearly a kilometer away from the jail, an act Afridi termed inhumane, immoral, and a direct violation of judicial orders.

Four Demands from Punjab Government

In his communication, Afridi outlined four specific demands for the Punjab government. These include immediate implementation of court orders, strict action against those responsible for the mistreatment, issuance of clear instructions to jail authorities and police, and the establishment of a dignified and legal system for family meetings with Imran Khan.

Warning and Appeal

The KP Chief Minister warned that violation of Imran Khan’s rights would not be acceptable under any circumstances. He emphasized that the Punjab government must act swiftly to uphold the rule of law and protect human dignity. Afridi expressed hope that Maryam Nawaz’s administration would take immediate steps to ensure compliance with court directives and prevent further embarrassment to state institutions.
