Quetta Police Arrest CTD Inspector for Rs 115 Million Robbery

  • CTD inspector arrested for Quetta’s Rs 115 million robbery.
  • Police recovered Rs 19 million from the detained suspects.
  • Investigation reveals police collaboration with a criminal gang.
The Quetta Police Serious Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW) has successfully tracked down and arrested key suspects involved in a massive robbery that occurred two months ago. Among those detained is a high-ranking official from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). The operation led to the recovery of over Rs 19 million in cash. According to details obtained via Urdu News, a senior police official confirmed that Inspector Aurangzeb Khokhar, who was serving in the CTD Special Operations Wing, was taken into custody after investigators gathered concrete evidence against him.

Details of the Multimillion-Rupee Robbery

The incident took place in December at the well-known Cut Piece Market, a major commercial hub in Quetta. The victim, a local merchant named Asadullah Loni, had filed a First Information Report (FIR) stating that Rs 115 million was stolen from his office locker. The merchant had recently collected the cash from a private bank for his solar and clothing business. After securing the money in an underground locker, the market was closed for the night. However, a group of armed men arrived in three vehicles during the early hours, overpowered the security guard, and broke into the shopping center to make off with the loot.

Investigation and Recovery Efforts

The SCIW took over the case following initial reports and utilized advanced technology and CCTV footage to trace the perpetrators. The investigation revealed that a notorious gang from Killa Abdullah was behind the heist, working in tandem with several police officers. This group reportedly specializes in targeting individuals involved in large bank transactions and the Hawala business. In addition to the CTD inspector, police have previously arrested a constable named Mahmood and a civilian named Habib. Authorities are currently conducting raids to arrest another police officer and several other personnel who are believed to be part of the criminal network.

Judicial Action and Ongoing Manhunt

Following his arrest, Inspector Aurangzeb Khokhar was presented before Judicial Magistrate Saifullah Tarin. The court granted a three-day remand, handing the suspect over to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing for further questioning. The police are determined to recover the remaining stolen funds and apprehend the fleeing suspects. This case has raised significant concerns regarding the involvement of law enforcement officials in high-profile criminal activities, prompting a wider internal review within the department to identify further security breaches.
