Lahore (Republic PK) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi has taken an important decision to prevent traffic accidents in the city and has issued instructions that strict legal action will be taken against drivers involved in fatal, non-fatal accidents and irresponsible driving and ordered the suspension of driver’s licenses.
According to CTO Lahore, the driving licenses of such drivers whose negligence, carelessness or irresponsible driving causes accidents can be suspended for a minimum of six months to three years as per the law, while the restoration of the driving licenses of drivers involved in fatal accidents is subject to the order of the relevant court.
Sherazi further said that if any driver is found driving despite the suspension of his license, a case will be registered against him by taking legal action. He clarified that the serious violations of traffic rules are not only a violation of the law but also lead to the loss of precious human lives, so such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi said that Lahore Traffic Police considers the protection of lives and property of citizens as its primary responsibility and with this aim, the implementation of traffic rules is being made more effective.
He said that the zero tolerance policy will continue to be strictly implemented to establish safe highways, reduce accidents and promote responsible driving. He appealed to the citizens to fully comply with traffic rules, control speed, maintain a safe distance and make responsible driving their habit so as to ensure the safety of their own lives and property and that of others.
CTO Lahore reiterated his resolve that strict legal measures will continue in the future to prevent accidents, promote safe travel and enforce the law without discrimination, because compliance with traffic rules is the guarantee of reducing accidents and a safe Lahore.
