Lahore (Republic Pk) Anchorperson Rehan Tariq was released after the Lahore Sessions Court granted bail in the blasphemy case.
According to the details, the Lahore Sessions Court had ordered Rehan Tariq to be released on bail against the submission of one lakh bonds. Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui heard the post-arrest bail application of anchor Rehan Tariq.
During the hearing, Advocate Mian Dawood appeared on behalf of Rehan Tariq and presented his arguments before the court.
Lawyer Mian Dawood took the position that the text of the FIR does not show that any incident has been proven, no law of Pakistan has declared interviewing a person based on historical religious questions as a cognizable offence.
All the provisions imposed in the FIR are of a non-prohibited nature under the Criminal Code, in which granting bail to the accused is his constitutional right.
After the arguments were completed, Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui, while pronouncing the verdict on the petition, granted anchorperson Rehan Tariq’s post-arrest bail on a surety bond of Rs 100,000 and Rehan Tariq was released some time ago.
He said that this is the first time this has happened , and he is grateful to all the people and journalist community who supported him.
