Islamabad (Republic Pk) The government has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products, which has been implemented, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik said that the Prime Minister and the cabinet have decided that OGRA will determine prices on a daily basis, the government policy of daily determination, Petrol Pump Owners Association threatened to go on strike.
According to the details, the notification issued by the Petroleum Division said that the price of diesel has been increased by Rs 31.5 per liter, after which the new price of diesel has become Rs 354.35 per liter, the price of petrol has also been increased by Rs 5.44 per liter, after which the new price of petrol has become Rs 316.15 per liter.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, while holding a press conference with Information Minister Atta Tarar, said that due to tensions in the region, crude oil prices have once again increased in the global market, due to which energy prices have started increasing again everywhere. The price of diesel in the global market has increased from 110 to 140 dollars.
He said that he is grateful to the people for trying to bear this pain with immense patience. The targeted subsidy program is being continued, despite this, there is pain among the people. No additional burden has been placed on the people. The subsidy program on petroleum prices is still ongoing today.
Ali Pervaiz said that the government is moving towards deregulation of petroleum products. The cabinet decided that OGRA should decide on petroleum products on a daily basis. OGRA will determine prices on a daily basis, keeping in mind the global market. The levy on petrol and diesel and the carbon support levy level are lower than before.
All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has threatened to go on strike, rejecting the new petroleum price deregulation policy.
Chairman Noman Ali Butt has said that they reject the government’s proposed petroleum price deregulation policy, if the decision is not withdrawn, they will consider protesting and striking next week.
He said that the government should review its policy, the burden of problems should not be put on petrol pump owners, all stakeholders should be taken into confidence before fixing rates with OMCs, about 15,000 petrol pump owners across the country are facing serious concerns.
Noman Ali Butt said that the new policy will affect oil tankers, transportation and the pricing system, the government should consult petrol pump owners instead of making unilateral decisions.
