Mumbai (Republic Pk) Indian TV actor Rohit Chandel, who rose to fame with ‘Siraab’ and ‘Pandya Store’, has been detained by the police on charges of harassing a 16-year-old girl.
According to Indian media, Mumbai Police said that a case has been registered against Rohit Chandel under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Act for stalking and causing hurt intentionally. According to the complaint, Rohit Chandel and the 16-year-old girl knew each other.
The actor is accused of repeatedly calling the girl, when she did not respond, he started using other numbers to contact her. According to the text of the case, Rohit Chandel had an argument with the girl on July 5, during which he shouted at her and also tortured her.
The victim reported to the local police station, after which a formal case was registered. Police say that the police will collect footage from CCTV cameras in the area where the incident took place.
The police will also record a detailed statement of the girl, on the basis of which the investigation will be taken forward.
