Tehran (Republic pk) President of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian has formally invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the state funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to Independent, it has not yet been decided whether Indian Prime Minister will personally attend the ceremony or whether any representative will attend.
It’s important to mention here that after Khamenei’s death, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Masri visited the Iranian embassy in New Delhi to offer condolences.
Earlier, the Iranian government said that the ceremonies will begin on July 4. Khamenei’s body will be laid in the Grand Mosilla complex in Tehran.
This will be followed by public mourning processions in Tehran and Qom. The final burial will be held on July 9 at the Imam Reza shrine in Khamenei’s hometown of Mashhad. Millions of people are expected to attend the ceremonies.
