Khan’s Call Sealed: PTI Confirms Boycott, Quits Committees

ISLAMABAD, August 26, 2025 — The Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) Political Committee, in a formal statement, expressed gratitude to Imran Khan for placing “full confidence” in its members and entrusting them with the party’s political affairs for further consultation and direction.

The Committee voiced serious concern over the ongoing daily hearings of the Toshakhana trial inside Adiala Jail, warning that such proceedings risk undermining the fundamental rights of the accused and could hinder the delivery of justice.

In a unanimous decision, PTI declared that it regards all assembly members disqualified following convictions in the May 9 cases as the party’s true representatives. In solidarity and protest, the party announced it will boycott all by‑elections in these constituencies. The Committee paid tribute to those members who, despite what it called unjust court verdicts, have remained steadfast in supporting Imran Khan’s political ideology.

However, PTI confirmed it will contest the upcoming election for the NA‑129 Lahore seat, which fell vacant following the death of Mian Azhar.

Acting on Imran Khan’s directives, the Political Committee also announced the party’s immediate withdrawal from the chairmanship and membership of the Public Accounts Committee and all other Standing Committees of the National Assembly.

This decision follows remarks delivered a day earlier by Imran Khan conveyed through his sister, Aleema Khan, during her visit to him at Adiala Jail in which he urged PTI to boycott by‑elections and resign from parliamentary committees. The Committee’s statement formalizes that call.
