U.S. Sends Urgent Flood Relief to Pakistan, Assures Continued Support
ISLAMABAD: The United States has reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Pakistan as the nation grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods that have claimed lives, destroyed homes, and displaced thousands.
According to PTV News, “The United States stands with the people of Pakistan who have been severely affected by the devastating floods.” The U.S. Department of State is providing food, shelter, and other forms of life-saving disaster relief to the hardest-hit communities.
In a coordinated effort, the U.S. military has delivered essential supplies to the Pakistan Armed Forces, with the first shipment arriving at Nur Khan Air Base aboard C-17 and C-130 aircraft. The delivery was witnessed by U.S. Mission Pakistan Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, who expressed deep sympathy for the victims.
“The United States is deeply saddened by the loss of life, homes, and livelihoods in the floods,” Baker said, emphasizing that the aid was provided at the request of the Government of Pakistan to bolster ongoing national relief operations.
The initial consignment includes emergency shelters, food rations, and critical equipment to support rescue and recovery missions in submerged regions. Officials confirmed that more shipments are expected in the coming days as part of a sustained relief program.
Pakistan’s government has welcomed the assistance, noting that international cooperation is vital to addressing the scale of destruction caused by the floods. Relief agencies on the ground have warned that urgent action is needed to prevent further humanitarian crises, particularly in remote areas where access remains difficult.
This latest U.S. initiative underscores a broader commitment to humanitarian aid and disaster response in South Asia, with both nations pledging to work closely in the weeks ahead to restore stability and rebuild affected communities.
