Hamas Statement Opens Door for Gaza Peace, Says PM Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism over the latest developments in Gaza, saying that the statement issued by Hamas has created a rare opportunity for peace and a potential ceasefire.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said the progress made in recent days has raised hopes for an end to hostilities and the beginning of a path toward lasting peace. “This opportunity should not be wasted under any circumstances,” he emphasized.

Shehbaz Sharif also extended his gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and to Islamic countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates for their efforts in supporting dialogue on the Palestinian issue. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to work closely with its allies and brotherly nations to ensure durable peace in Palestine.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office welcomed Hamas’s response, stressing that an immediate ceasefire must be implemented. It also called for the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, along with the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. It further underlined that the state’s borders should be based on the pre-1967 lines, in line with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Islamabad has urged the launch of a credible political process to achieve lasting peace, pledging that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive and meaningful role in this effort.
