Hamid Mir: KP Peace Jirga Brings Together Rival Parties
In his program on Geo News, senior journalist Hamid Mir commented on the peace jirga held in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. He observed that political parties who were recently at odds in the National Assembly, chanting slogans against each other, came together in KP to explore a path toward peace. Mir described this as a significant and positive step in Pakistan’s tense political environment.
Meanwhile, speaking on Samaa TV, politician Ikhtiar Wali Khan acknowledged that all parties participated in PTI’s peace jirga. He said the KP government should be grateful for this cooperation, but also emphasized that PTI should reciprocate by attending national security-related meetings when invited.
Together, these remarks highlight both the progress made through dialogue in KP and the continuing need for broader cooperation at the federal level.
