Bangladesh A held their nerve in a tense Super Over to knock India out of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 semifinal at West End Park International Cricket Stadium on Friday. The victory sealed Bangladesh A’s place in the title clash, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka A.

The Super Over Drama

With both teams locked at 194 for six after two highoctane innings, the contest headed into a Super Over. Bangladesh’s Ripon Mondol produced a sensational burst, dismissing two Indian batters in consecutive balls without conceding a run. India’s hopes of advancing collapsed instantly. In reply, Bangladesh A lost Yasir Ali on the first ball, but fortune swung their way when Indian bowler Suyash Sharma bowled a wide, handing Bangladesh the win and a spot in the final.

Bangladesh’s Batting Brilliance

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh A showcased explosive batting to post 194 for six. Opener Habibur Rahman Sohan anchored the innings with a composed 65 off 46 balls, striking five sixes and three boundaries. The late fireworks came from SM Meherob, who blasted an unbeaten 48 off just 18 deliveries, smashing six sixes and a four to lift his side to a formidable total.

India’s Response

India matched Bangladesh stroke for stroke in their chase. Priyansh Arya hammered 44 off 23 balls, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi added 38 off 15 to keep the momentum alive. Nehal Wadhera contributed an unbeaten 32 off 29, but wickets at crucial stages slowed the chase.

Needing 16 off the final over, India fought hard as Ashutosh Sharma struck a six and a four to revive hopes. With four required off two balls, Ashutosh was bowled for 13 off six, leaving India needing four off the last delivery. They managed only three, tying the scores and pushing the contest into the Super Over that ultimately proved decisive.

A Thriller for the Ages

The semifinal will be remembered as one of the most dramatic contests of the tournament. Bangladesh A’s composure under pressure carried them into the final, while India’s spirited fight ended in heartbreak.
