National all-rounder Shadab Khan has officially announced his withdrawal from the remainder of the Big Bash League (BBL) 15 season. According to a post shared on his official X account, the cricketer confirmed that he would not be returning to join his team, the Sydney Thunder, effectively ending his participation for this year’s tournament.
Shadab is currently engaged with the Pakistan national cricket squad, participating in the crucial T20 series against Sri Lanka. Although fans and the Thunder management reportedly held out hope for his eventual return after the national assignment concluded, his recent statement clarified that conflicting schedules prevented his continued involvement in the BBL. This national commitment takes precedence over his franchise obligations in Australia.
In his withdrawal message, Shadab expressed profound gratitude for his time spent with the Australian franchise. He specifically mentioned enjoying his entire journey with the group, acknowledging that they “couldn’t quite get over the line this time” but enjoyed every moment of the experience. He extended a big thank you to the players, management, and support staff for their cooperation throughout his tenure.
The all-rounder specifically noted that he “would love to go further in the future,” suggesting a strong desire to rejoin the BBL in subsequent seasons. His premature departure leaves a significant gap in the Sydney Thunder lineup as they navigate the critical final stages of the tournament, forcing the franchise to quickly adjust their strategy.
