Court Issues Strict Orders Regarding PTI Founder’s Appearance in High-Profile Cases
- Islamabad court heard six major cases involving the PTI founder.
- Interim bail granted to the founder and his wife was extended.
- Judge ordered the founder’s physical or virtual presence for next hearing.
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail for the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in multiple high-profile cases. Crucially, the court issued directives requiring the PTI founder to be produced either physically or via video link at the next hearing. The proceedings were overseen by Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka.
The founder of PTI faces six separate cases, including charges related to the May 9th events, attempted murder, and the submission of allegedly fake receipts. Bushra Bibi is also involved in the case concerning the alleged submission of fraudulent documents. The court decided to extend the interim bail requests for both until February 6th.
According to sources familiar with the court proceedings, arguments on the bail applications could not proceed during the latest session. This delay occurred because the PTI founder, currently detained, was not presented before the court, nor was a video link established for his virtual presence. His non-availability reportedly halted the expected legal discourse.
Following the lack of presentation and subsequent inability to hear arguments, the court adjourned the hearing until February 6th. The judge emphasized that the presentation of the PTI founder on the new date is mandatory, ensuring the smooth continuation of the legal process across all six outstanding matters.
