Lahore (Republic Pk) The new price of wheat in Punjab has been set at Rs 3,800 per 40 Kg. After the approval of the Punjab cabinet, the notification was issued by the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department of Punjab.
According to private TV channel Geo News, a spokesperson for the Food Safety Department said that the federal government has immediately directed the Punjab government to purchase wheat from PASSCO.
Approval has been given to supply 300,000 metric tons of wheat to Punjab, the Food Safety Department of Punjab has already received 200,000 metric tons of wheat from PASSCO.
According to the spokesperson, the price of wheat has been fixed by PASSCO at Rs 4,150. This decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of flour and wheat in the province. The supply of wheat from PASSCO will stabilize flour and its price in the province.
The spokesperson further said that the Punjab government has allocated 533,440 metric tons of wheat against the demand of 800,000 metric tons.
The Ministry of National Food Security has ordered the Punjab government to immediately submit the procurement schedule and advance payment.
