Lahore (Republic PK )the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSA) has introduced the “CM Punjab QR Panic Button System , In a major move to protect the citizens of Punjab and make public transport safe, modern and reliable .
Introduced under the Digital Punjab vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, this system will connect public transport to the digital safety network of Safe City.

According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, QR panic buttons will be installed in buses, wagons, rickshaws, taxis and other public transport vehicles across the province. The authority has developed this system in-house without any additional financial burden.
QR panic buttons can be obtained free of cost from home through the Public Safety App and Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

According to officials, 12 safety features have been added to a single QR panic button system, including call, video call, live chat, location sharing, vehicle verification and immediate police response.
Passengers will be able to scan the QR Panic Button at the start of the journey to get verified information about the vehicle, owner and driver, while these details can also be shared with their family members.
In an emergency, passengers will be able to contact Safe City immediately through a call, video call or live chat on 15. In the event of an emergency, the passenger’s live location and vehicle data will be immediately received by the Safe City Control Room, after which a timely response will be ensured through a modern command and control system.
According to Safe Cities officials, drivers will also be able to get immediate help in any emergency through the QR Panic Button, while if the ownership of the vehicle changes, the previous QR Panic Button will be deactivated and a new QR Panic Button will be issued after the new owner’s record is updated.
IG Punjab Abdul Karim said that the protection of public life and property is the primary responsibility of Punjab Police and the QR Panic Button will prove to be an effective means of immediate communication between the police and citizens. According to him, this system will play an important role in the protection of women, senior citizens, students and millions of citizens who travel daily.
